Have you ever made a promise to yourself and then not kept that promise? Do you know why the importance of keeping promises to yourself is so… Well…. Important.

Once upon a time there was this girl who made lots of promises to herself but she hardly ever took any action and her life was…… Well….. how do you think her life turned out?

Today is a new day and I am going to start the new me. I’m sick of being stuck in a rut and not achieving my goals.

Hmm tomorrow in a new day

Today I am going to start eating better

Hmm perhaps I’ll do better tomorrow.

Oh I feel so tired and heavy right now.

Keeping Promises

When we don’t keep a promise that we have made to ourselves something inside us shifts, just slightly. Then we let ourselves down again. Another shift happens. Then another, and another. And before you know it. You have lost that confidence in your ability to show up for yourself. You start to feel unhappy and STUCK and you have no idea how you got here.

This is why it is SO important to keep the promises that you make not just to yourself but also to others.

Showing up for you MATTERS

I have experienced first hand the effects of not keeping my promises and eventually it feels heavy inside of you like this unknown toxin, eating away at your ability to be happy. It can spill over into all areas of your life. I know that sounds kinda dramatic but it can happen. If you let it. I promise you, if you keep the promises made to yourself you will feel lighter, happier and every area of your life will improve.

How to keep your promises

  • Start small if you need to
  • Choose 1-2 things to do a day. Do these consistently for a week before adding more
  • Make sure they are achievable
  • Decide on something meaningful to you to reward yourself with at the end of the week if you need an extra incentive.

Achieving your goals helps you feel good, gives you confidence and helps you feel successful. Listening to Mel Robbins ‘The 5 Second rule on Audible Helped me realise that I was breaking my promise to myself BEFORE I even got out of bed. My alarm would go off and I would turn it off roll over and snooze for a bit longer before getting out of bed cursing that I was going to be late. This was setting the wrong intention for the rest of the day. When I really thought about it I realised this was only the start of letting myself down. This is why it is important in keeping promises to yourself. If you are not achieving your goals or living the life you want start with looking at where you are showing up for yourself and how you can keep those promises and keep showing up more and more.

Trust me you will start achieving more.
